About

Great, another one of “those” girl gamers. That is probably what you are thinking, and I cannot blame you. I usually feel the same way around girl gaming blogs, and tend to avoid them myself.

I promise you though, I am not one of those girls. I do not even like using the distinction unless it is relevant to a serious discussion regarding games, or jokingly amongst friends. The only reason the title is “PC Game Girl” is because I cannot be bothered coming up with something more creative at this time. At least I did not use “Grrl”!

I really have nothing I care to share in terms of personal details, my life, or cute fluffy things. However, as a little background information, I was born in 1982 and have been playing video games since I could hold a controller. My parents were avid gamers, so it was only natural I became one as well. The first console I remember playing on was an Intellivision, and I cannot even remember what the specs were for the PC we gamed on. It was pretty freaking old.

Around the mid 90’s, I turned almost exclusively to PC gaming. It offered a world consoles could not match at the time, including online capabilities and multiplayer games. I played shooters extensively and competed in a variety of tournaments, although I never attempted professional ones simply due to my inability to travel at the time. That is probably one of my biggest regrets in gaming, and will never forgive myself for.

My focus still remains on the PC gaming market, although I am becoming increasingly disappointed in developers and gamers. Thus, the reason for this blog. Instead of constantly ranting to friends (sorry), I decided to write here just for the sake of writing. I hope others read my articles, but I am also not making a point to reach out to others. This is the internet after all, where reading comprehension only exists in what I perceive to be 5% of the population.

So, enjoy your stay. If you want to get in touch with me for whatever reason, my email is kurina at 5elements.net, and my Twitter is @pcgamegirl.
